Alex Jackson

Alex has 15 years’ experience in derivatives trading and quantitative modelling at Goldman Sachs, Barclays Capital, Credit Suisse and JP Morgan. Prior to this, he was a lecturer in Mathematics at Oxford University. During his years at Barclays, CS and JPM, Alex developed various innovative technology platforms offering capital protected retail investment products. In 2013, Alex Jackson and Jules Pancholi founded Socius Technologies, a FinTech start-up with the purpose of advancing financial technology to efficiently deliver retail investment products through global financial partners. Alex holds a DPhil in Stochastic Calculus and an MA in Mathematics and Computation from Oxford University.

Jules Pancholi

Jules has 16 years’ experience in running start-up ventures in digital innovation across financial services, healthcare and media-based companies, specialising in big data analysis, web design, online marketing, e-commerce, price comparison and search engine optimization. He holds numerous board positions, which includes CEO of Nitro Digital, a global healthcare and financial services digital innovation agency, and MD / founder of Nitro Ventures, a VC firm. Through Nitro Ventures, Jules was one of the initial investor’s in Skyscanner (www.skyscanner.com) and having served as a non-exec director for Skyscanner, Jules was instrumental in its recent sale to Ctrip. Before Jules’ entrepreneurial ventures, he was a commodities trader for Credit Suisse. Jules holds an MA in International Relations and European Studies, and BA in Geography and Economics from the University of Kent.

David Macdonald

David was a Managing Director within the Investment Banking Division of Barclays Bank (formerly Barclays Capital) where he was the Global Head of their Retail Insurance Solutions business. His remit was to work with Life Insurance companies to develop new policyholder investment solutions, covering the full spectrum of Investment, Pension and Annuity based products. David started his career in the Financial Services industry over 20-years ago as a technology expert, latterly developing Risk Management & Trading IT platforms over a 5-year period for Deutsche Bank (1995 – 2000), before embarking on an MBA at Erasmus Graduate School of Management in The Netherlands. He is recognised as an industry expert delivering unit-linked structured solutions to the Life Insurance sector across multiple jurisdictions, having transacted business across Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. David holds a BEng in Electronic Engineering and Mathematics, 1st Class (Joint Honours) from the University of Nottingham.

Michael Doyle

Michael has been with Socius Technologies in April 2014, as the Head of Technology. His responsibilities include the full oversight of our platforms both in terms of production management, and in its on-going development to cover further innovation with robo-advised sales, online marketing, and the supported product range. Prior to Michael’s role at Socius Technologies, he was Head of Research and Development for FNZ, a technology platform provider, where he was responsible for all group wide innovation across the various FNZ platforms. Michael holds a BA in Economics and Finance from the London School of Economics.

Robert Smith

Robert was a Managing Director at Citi, with over 20 years of experience in quantitative, financial modelling. He was the Global Head of Automated Trading and Data Science within Credit Markets. His team provided automated pricing and trading systems for retail and institutional clients in corporate bonds and credit derivatives. The team also built tools for client profiling, ‘robo’ sales and trading assistance and advanced profitability analysis. The team used techniques of stochastic filtering, machine learning, and sophisticated back-testing frameworks to build, understand and optimize the performance of the path-dependent trading systems. Prior to his work on automated trading systems, Robert led the development of the pricing and risk library for Citi Credit Markets. Robert is highly experienced software developer; proficient in C++, Python and functional programming languages in real-time, event-based, multi-threaded concurrent systems. Robert work involved relational, object and high-frequency tick-level database technologies. Robert holds a DPhil in Robotics from Oxford University, a MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and is a Member of the Institute of Physics.

Örn Greif

Örn joined Socius Technologies in 2018 and brings with him 22 years investment banking experience, specifically the origination, structuring, sales and trading in the capital markets at Barclays, Nomura and BNP Paribas. He spent the last six years in systems & operations, heading BNP Paribas’ division responsible for middle & back-office services for structured bonds & loan funds. During this period he was also responsible for the introduction and adoption of iCPPI across the insurance, wealth management and retail banking arms of the group. Örn graduated from UCLA (BA), Sciences Po (Diplomé), and the Sorbonne (DEA) with degrees in Literature, Politics and Economics.

Justin Gibbs

Justin joined Socius in early 2018 as the Head of Security and Cloud Based Technologies. Prior to joining Socius Technologies, Justin served as Microsoft Cloud Services Architect for Fidelity International. In this role Justin defined the information security architecture for the Azure platform, cloud services and advanced threat protection. He also held similar cloud security roles at Paddy Power Betfair, Jaguar Land Rover, Burberry, and Petrofac. His experience in security in other Blue Chip companies spans more than 20 years including many investment and financial services firms including ABN AMRO, Deutsche Bank, ING Group, Lloyds Banking Group and UBS.
